RF Microneedling
Tightens, smooths, and renews skin by combining microneedling with radiofrequency energy. Using the PiXel8-RF system, our board-certified nurse practitioner stimulates collagen deep beneath the surface, for firmer skin and a more even texture with minimal downtime.
How RF microneedling works
Loose skin, larger pores, and lingering scars all come from collagen that's thinned over time. RF microneedling delivers radiofrequency heat through tiny channels in the skin, prompting your body to rebuild firmer, smoother skin from within.
Our Approach
At St. Johns Wellness, we use the PiXel8-RF system, which lets our board-certified nurse practitioner adjust needle depth and energy for each area of your face or body. Delicate zones get a lighter touch; areas with deeper laxity or scarring get more. Every treatment is planned around your skin, not a preset.
The process is gentle and well tolerated with numbing cream. You’ll see some redness for a day or two, then a gradual improvement in firmness and texture as new collagen forms over the following weeks. A series of three sessions, spaced about a month apart, gives the best results.

What we treat
RF microneedling addresses the concerns that creams and facials can't reach. We adjust depth and energy for each area, so the treatment is as gentle or as thorough as your skin needs.

Skin laxity
Tightens loose skin along the jawline, neck, and under the chin. Also effective on the abdomen and arms after weight loss.

Fine lines & wrinkles
Softens lines around the eyes, mouth, and forehead by rebuilding collagen where the skin has thinned.

Acne scars
Smooths pitted and uneven scarring by remodeling the tissue beneath. Safe for all skin tones, with steady improvement over a series.

Pores & texture
Refines rough, uneven skin and visibly minimizes pores, leaving the surface smoother and more even in tone.

Stretch marks
Improves the color and texture of stretch marks on the abdomen, hips, and thighs by stimulating new collagen in the affected skin.

Neck & décolletage
Firms crepey, sun-damaged skin on the neck and chest, areas that often show age before the face does.
Candidacy
Am I a good candidate for RF microneedling?
RF microneedling works for most skin types and tones, and it’s especially effective for concerns that sit beneath the surface. You’re likely a good candidate if you:
- Notice loose or sagging skin on the face, neck, or body
- Have acne scars, enlarged pores, or uneven texture
- Want to soften fine lines without injectables or surgery
- Prefer gradual, natural results with only a few days of downtime
We’ll advise against treatment if you’re pregnant, have an active skin infection or breakout in the area, or have a pacemaker or metal implant nearby. Beyond that, the best way to know is a conversation with our nurse practitioner, who will give you an honest recommendation with no pressure.
What to expect
Minimal downtime, gradual results
Each session takes about an hour, including numbing cream to keep you comfortable. Afterward, expect redness and mild swelling for one to three days, sometimes with a slightly rough texture as the skin renews. Most patients are back to normal activities the next day. Results build gradually over the following weeks and are best after a series of three.
Before your visit
- Avoid retinol, acids, and sun exposure for 3–5 days
- Come in with clean skin, no makeup
- Let us know about pregnancy, skin conditions, or metal implants
First 48 hours
- Keep skin clean, cool, and moisturized
- Skip makeup, exercise, saunas, and hot showers
- Stay out of the sun and wear SPF once your skin has calmed
RF microneedling at St. Johns Wellness starts at $XXX per session for the face, with package pricing available for a series of three. Body areas are priced separately depending on size. Regular microneedling creates tiny channels in the skin to trigger healing. RF microneedling does the same, but each needle also delivers radiofrequency heat into the deeper layers where collagen is made. That added energy is what makes it effective for tightening loose skin and remodeling scars, not just refining the surface.
Most patients describe it as warmth and pressure rather than pain. We apply a strong numbing cream for about 30 minutes before treatment, and the PiXel8-RF lets us adjust depth and energy for sensitive areas. Some spots, like the upper lip and jawline, are a little more noticeable, but the whole session is very manageable.
Most people see the best results after a series of three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. Mild concerns like pores or early laxity may need fewer; deeper scarring or loose skin after weight loss may need more. Your plan will be mapped out at your consultation.
Your skin often looks brighter within a week, but the real change happens beneath the surface. New collagen forms over the following weeks, so firmness and texture keep improving for three to six months after each session. Results are gradual and natural, never sudden.
Yes. Unlike many laser treatments, RF microneedling delivers energy beneath the surface rather than through it, which greatly reduces the risk of pigmentation changes. The PiXel8-RF is designed to treat all skin types safely, and settings are adjusted for your individual skin.
It can. RF microneedling is one of the most effective non-surgical options for mild to moderate laxity on the abdomen, arms, thighs, and under the chin. It won’t replace surgery for significant excess skin, but for many patients it makes a real, visible difference. This is something we discuss honestly at your consultation.
Yes, and it often works best that way. RF microneedling improves skin quality, Botox softens expression lines, and fillers restore volume, so together they address different layers of aging. Sessions are usually spaced a couple of weeks apart. Our nurse practitioner will help you plan the right order.
