Sculptra®
Rather than filling lines, Sculptra helps your skin rebuild its own collagen, restoring structure and softness from within. Subtle, gradual, and long-lasting, performed by our board-certified nurse practitioner.
How Sculptra works
Collagen is what gives skin its firmness and support, and we lose about one percent of it every year after our mid-twenties. Sculptra doesn't replace that lost volume directly. It stimulates your skin to rebuild its own collagen, so the results are gradual, natural, and long-lasting.
Our Approach
We treat Sculptra as a long-term investment in your skin rather than a quick fix. Our nurse practitioner maps the areas that need support, uses conservative amounts, and builds results over a short series of appointments. Every step is guided by how your skin responds, not by a preset formula.
Because Sculptra works with your own collagen, the change unfolds gradually. Early improvement shows in the first few weeks, with the full effect settling in over several months. Results typically last up to two years, and any swelling or bruising after each session is mild and short-lived.

Where we treat
Sculptra works wherever skin has lost collagen and support. We treat the areas where firmness has faded, building results gradually so they look natural at every stage.

Cheeks
Rebuilds the natural fullness that flattens with age, lifting the mid-face and softening the look of tiredness.

Temples
Hollow temples can make the face look drawn. Restoring volume here creates a smoother, more youthful outline.

Jawline
Adds definition and support along the jaw, easing early jowls and giving the lower face a firmer contour.

Nasolabial folds
Softens deep folds around the nose and mouth by restoring the collagen beneath them, not by filling the crease.

Chin
Improves projection and balance, and smooths the crepey texture that can appear on the chin over time.

Body
Firms and smooths crepey skin on the décolletage, arms, knees, and buttocks, including hip dips and cellulite dimpling.
Candidacy
Am I a good candidate for Sculptra?
Sculptra is best suited to gradual, overall volume loss rather than a single line or fold. You’re likely a good candidate if you:
- Notice hollowing in the cheeks, temples, or along the jawline
- Feel your face looks thinner or more tired than it used to
- Want results that develop gradually and last longer than traditional fillers
- Prefer a natural look that no one can trace to a treatment
Sculptra isn’t recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for those with certain autoimmune conditions or active skin infections. Beyond that, the best way to know is a conversation with our nurse practitioner, who will give you an honest recommendation with no pressure.
What to expect
Small steps toward lasting firmness
Sculptra is usually done as a series of two to three sessions, spaced about four to six weeks apart. Each visit is quick and well tolerated thanks to numbing cream and the lidocaine mixed into the product. You may see some early fullness from swelling that settles within a few days, and the lasting improvement develops over three to six months.
Before your visit
- Avoid alcohol and blood thinners for 24–48 hours
- Arrive with clean skin, or we'll cleanse it for you
- Tell us about any autoimmune conditions or recent illness
After each session
- Follow the 5-5-5 massage: 5 minutes, 5 times a day, 5 days
- Avoid strenuous exercise and heat for a day
- Keep your follow-up; timing between sessions matters
Sculptra at St. Johns Wellness starts at $XXX per vial, and consultations are free. Most patients need one to two vials per session and two to three sessions for full results, depending on the areas treated and how much volume has been lost. Our nurse practitioner will give you a complete quote for your treatment plan before anything is injected.
Fillers add volume directly with a hyaluronic acid gel, and you see the result immediately. Sculptra works by stimulating your skin to produce its own collagen, so results develop gradually over a few months and tend to last longer. Fillers are ideal for targeted areas like the lips; Sculptra suits broader volume loss across the cheeks, temples, and jawline.
Results typically last up to two years, and sometimes longer, because the collagen your body builds is your own. Many patients choose a single maintenance session every year or two to keep results going.
Most people need two to three sessions, spaced about four to six weeks apart. The exact number depends on your age, how much volume has been lost, and the areas being treated. Your plan will be mapped out at your consultation.
You may notice some fullness right away, but that’s temporary swelling from the treatment itself. The real change begins around four to six weeks, as collagen starts to form, and continues to improve for three to six months. The gradual timeline is what makes Sculptra look so natural.
For five days after each session, you’ll massage the treated areas for five minutes, five times a day. This helps the product spread evenly beneath the skin and reduces the small chance of lumps forming. It’s simple, and we’ll show you exactly how before you leave.
The most common are mild swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness at the injection sites, which usually settle within a few days. Small bumps under the skin are rare and are largely prevented by the massage routine. We’ll go over everything at your consultation and give you clear aftercare instructions.
Yes, and it’s a common approach. Sculptra rebuilds foundation and firmness, filler adds volume where it’s needed right away, and Botox softens expression lines. Together, they address aging from several angles. Your nurse practitioner will help you decide what to combine and when.
